SSF-6 Silver Solder Rod: Flux-Coated SSF-6 56% Brazing Rod

Price range: $115.00 through $600.00

Silver Solder Rods

SSF-6 is a high-strength 56% silver solder rod. An ideal replacement for flux-less silver solder coils, our flux-coated silver solder rod flows thinly and easily and joins a variety of metals at over 70,000 psi. This innovative formulation simplifies the brazing process, saves time, and delivers superior results by eliminating the need for separate flux application. Its exceptional wetting properties create strong, leak-proof joints every time.

It is the only fluxed silver solder that’s strong enough to clean oxidized stainless steel, and wets even burned stainless. As a versatile silver brazing rod, it offers unmatched performance for critical repairs and fabrication. It’s also an excellent silver solder rod for repairing cast iron parts such as exhaust manifolds. Use it where you need strong, lasting bonds: repairing heavy machinery, restoring auto body panels, or creating leak-proof joints in plumbing applications.

SSF-6 bonds an impressive variety of metals: stainless, steel, brass, copper, bronze, carbide, chrome-moly, carbon-moly, galvanized iron, cadmium-coated steel, inconel, cupronickel, silicone bronze, silver, gold, and cast steel – individually or with other metals (such as copper to stainless). Its broad compatibility makes it a popular option for DIYers and businesses. To ensure safe use for medical and pharmaceutical applications, the SSF-6 Silver Solder Rod is also cadmium-free.

Why Choose SSF-6?

SSF-6 silver solder delivers professional-grade results without the complexity of traditional silver brazing. Its unique flux-coated design eliminates the need for separate flux in most applications. The coating melts cleanly, ensuring smooth flow and strong, reliable bonds.

What truly sets SSF-6 apart is its specially formulated flux, engineered differently from even other 56% silver solders. This advanced formulation allows SSF-6 to flow effortlessly on a wider range of metals, including difficult metals like cast iron, making it exceptionally versatile and easy to use for both experts and first-time users.

  • Flux-Coated Formulation: eliminates the need for separate flux in most applications
  • Cadmium-Free and Non-Toxic: safe for food and beverage equipment
  • Creates smooth, clean joints with no discoloration or porosity
  • Ideal for stainless steel, copper, bronze, brass, and mild steel
  • Superior Strength and ductility for long-lasting performance

What Our Customers Say About SSF-6 Silver Solder Rods

Product worked well. Soldered steel to brass, bronze and copper. This is a $7500 weather vane and couldn’t have achieved the results without the SSF-6 rods. We are a custom shop in Texas that fabricates custom old world architectural products. — Brian Rock, Beach Sheet Metal

The SSF-6 silver solder rod is an excellent product. I used it to solder a stainless steel nipple to a Cornelius keg lid (I’m making a forced carbonation lid for my home brew) and it worked like a charm. I couldn’t find a weld shop locally to even attempt the job. — Ed Walkowski Jr, MD

Just got home and tried a rod. This stuff is amazing…. It feels like cheating, it’s so easy. Here’s my new still with silver brazed stainless steel condenser return port. Thanks again – Gunnar Hart

Muggy Weld made it possible to repair a customer’s stainless steel vessel that had two previously failed attempts from other places. After close inspection, it was determined the fittings had been silver soldered and were mistaken as being weldable. After removing the previous repairs, I used SSF-6 56% silver solder rod, WOW IS IT AN AMAZING PRODUCT! Thanks to their phenomenal information they provide, paired with their fantastic videos and instruction sheet – I was able to successfully repair the vessel and the customer was thrilled. Although it was small, this was one of my faborite repairs to have ever gotten to do, thanks to Muggy Weld. I will be a customer for life! 10/10 stars! — Nicole Latronica, Tron Precision Welding

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What makes SSF-6 Silver Solder different from other silver solder rods?

What makes SSF-6 stand out is the specially formulated flux, designed differently than other 56% silver solders. This unique formulation allows SSF-6 to flow smoothly across a wider range of metals, including challenging metals like cast iron.

  • Do I need additional flux?

The flux-coating is sufficient for most repairs, however, for larger repairs or heavily oxidized joints, you may apply additional SSF-6 Paste Flux to ensure optimal flow.

  • Which torch can I use?

SSF-6 works with propane, MAPP gas, natural gas, acetylene, or oxyacetylene torches. Choose the best option for your metal thickness (email for assistance choosing a torch)

  • Can SSF-6 be used on dissimilar metals?

Yes, SSF-6 bonds stainless to copper, brass to stainless, and many other metal combinations easily.

  • What’s the working temperature?

SSF-6 flows at approximately 1150°F (621°C), providing precise temperature control and smooth, clean joints. Your torch must be able to heat the metal to 1150°F to flow properly. Large pieces or thick metal may require oxyacetylene to achieve proper working temperature.

With its high silver content, easy-to-apply flux coating, and cadmium-free formulation, SSF-6 Silver Solder Rod is the premier choice for professionals and hobbyists alike. It’s safe for restaurant and food-grade repairs, delivers superior strength, and flows cleanly for perfect results every time.
