What’s Included

One 1 oz. Container of Super Alloy 1 Liquid Flux Replacement

Shelf Life and Storage

Store the powder flux in a sealed container in a cool, dry environment. Super Alloy 1 flux maintains its consistency and performance for two years when stored tightly-sealed in a cool, dry environment below 77°F (25°C)

How to Use Super Alloy 1 Liquid Flux Replacement

  1. Prepare the Metal: Clean the surface thoroughly to remove oxidation, oil, paint etc. Use a wire brush, Dremel tool, sandpaper, bead blaster etc. It’s important to remove all surface oxidation immediately prior to bonding, as the surface metal begins to oxidize immediately, and oxidation interferes with the bond.
  2. Apply the Flux: Dip the rod into the flux, then brush a thin, even coat on the area to be soldered.
  3. Heat the Parent Metal: Apply heat evenly, and do not apply heat directly to the rod.
  4. Watch for Color Change: The liquid flux will change color when the surface reaches the correct working temperature (around 350°F)
  5. Apply the Rod: Touch the Super Alloy 1 rod to the heated area and allow it to flow smoothly across the joint.
  6. Cool Naturally and Clean: Let the part air-cool before removing any residual flux with tepid water and a wire brush.

Common Applications

  • Repairing aluminum, pot metal, and zinc die-cast parts
  • Restoring automotive trim, carburetors, radiators, and air-conditioning components
  • Joining or rebuilding non-ferrous metal assemblies without distortion
  • Restoring vintage or delicate metal parts that cannot tolerate high brazing temperatures
  • Creating metal art, model building, and hobby projects requiring precision and a smooth finish

Yes, Super Alloy 1 Liquid Flux Replacement bonds to pot metal, steel, stainless steel, galvanized metals, brass, bronze, copper, zinc die-cast, pewter and more. In any combination.

  • Why does the flux change color when heated?

The color change indicates that the base metal has reached 350°F, the proper working temperature for Super Alloy 1 rods to flow.

  • Can I reuse leftover flux?

Yes, as long as it remains clean and uncontaminated. Store it sealed after each use.

  • What type of torch works best?

Super Alloy 1 works with any standard low-temperature torch, including propane, MAPP gas, natural gas and air, or butane.

  • Do I need to use both flux and rod together?

Yes, Super Alloy 1 Liquid Flux is specially formulated to activate the Super Alloy 1 rod for optimal performance and bond strength.
