A local auto repair shop presented an interesting challenge for SSF-6 Silver Solder from http://www.MuggyWeld.com–an EGR Valve Tube that had been corroded through. The replacement part was a day away and $100, so one of the mechanics decided to attempt a repair.
After cleaning the part with a wire wheel to remove all the contaminates, he used SSF-6 and a propane torch to seal the system. He tinned the surface on both sides, then bridged the gap with SSF-6. He worked around the part until the work area was completely closed. He wasn’t attempting an aesthetic repair, just a functional job with no leaks.
Another successful repair with SSF-6 56% Silver Solder.
