How to Fix Pot Metal
Pot metal has frustrated hobbyists and restorers for decades. Its low melting point makes traditional welding difficult, and many antique or decorative parts are impossible to replace. Building the Missing Area
Once the correct temperature was reached, the filler material was applied gradually across the gap. The repair was built up in layers by:

This method allows the missing section to be recreated while maintaining control over the repair.
Finishing the Repair
After the repair cooled, residual flux was removed using warm water and a wire brush. The repaired section was then ground and shaped to match the surrounding part. Proper finishing helps blend the repair into the original casting and prepares the part for painting, polishing, or further restoration work.
