This 2006 Dodge Sprinter brake line was damaged when a wiring harness rubbed through the protective plastic coating. After the steel line was exposed, the brake hose rusted and cracked–which then became a sizable leak. The aftermarket part was not available, so we obtained the brake line from Jack at Jack’s Madrona Autoworks in Olympia, Washington, and made the repair with SSF-6 silver solder paste.
We simply cleaned the rust off the line, squeezed out a dot of SSQ-6 56% silver solder paste onto the crack and heated the parent metal with a propane torch. The resulting repair was achieved in seconds.
