Aluminum Weather Vane Repair

This antique weather vane was damaged in the recent Gulf Coast hurricanes.

We sanded the part and used Super Alloy 5 with an oxyacetylene torch to make the repair on the cast aluminum.

The part is now ready to be repainted and reassembled.

TIPS

Cast iron repairs require an oxyacetylene. Use caution when welding thin cast, to avoid overheating the base metal.

The flux is an absolute temperature guide, simply watch until it turns into a liquid and you're ready to apply the rod

For best results, allow the flux to do its job before adding the rod
