Oftentimes in antique car parts, pot metal is torn or broken, leaving collectors two choices: buy aftermarket parts if you can find them, or try to find a repair shop to repair your parts--and wait months for the parts to come back--at considerable expense.








After making sure we have completely cleaned the part down to the bare pot metal, we apply the Super Alloy 1 flux.








Using a propane torch with a light flame, we apply the flux and watch for it to turn root-beer brown, indicating that the base metal is ready to weld.








Once the base metal has reached 350o, we lay the rod in and watch it flow into the gap.
