37 Electrode
Outstanding and probably unprecedented welding characteristics
- Electrode does not "stick" even for amateur welders. The perfect electrode for maintenance men who rarely weld and are not highly skilled
- Splendid all position characteristics. Can be used with a short arc or a long arc. Can be used easily vertical up, vertical down and in the difficult overhead position even by mechanics who rarely weld. In vertical down the slag does not "run ahead" and interfere with weld performance
- Outstanding strike and restrike characteristics. The arc starts with a delicate touch even on restart.
- Electrode is "bendable" for difficult positions in maintenance welding because of its in-built coating flexibility
Coating Chemistry
Easily ionized materials have been incorporated in the 37 coating, permitting easier establishment and greater stability in the maintenance of the arc at lower welding currents and low open-circuit voltages. This makes the welding of thin sections more feasible and prevents burn through.
The coating forms a "crucible action" at the tip of the electrode controlling the molecular velocity and increasing the stability of the arc.
This crucible action generates gases, by pyrolysis of the coating altogether with ions and metal vapors of the core wire, thus producing a fine metallic spray transfer. This coating is so versatile that low amperage can be used for welding thin material.
How to Apply
37 can either be applied with a short arc or by using the touch weld technique. AC or DC equipment can be used but when DC equipment is used, reverse or straight polarity can be incorporated.
When welding in the down-hand position the electrode should be held at an angle of 30 to 40 degrees to the direction of travel; for vertical welds the electrode should be held at approximately 45 degrees from the horizontal.
- Spatter Free
- Extra high elongation
- Dense porosity-free welds
- Superior holding power with tensile strength and yield strength 33 1/3% higher than mild steel electrodes
- Easily applied without undercut
- Slag is virtually self-removing
- Excellent machinability
